Americans know that the U.S. can’t seem to stop Kim Jong Il and Asia doesn’t know if it loves or hates him. So the position of N. Korean dictator looks stronger than ever. In addition, American has become S. Korea’s enemy and more S. Koreans had already admired this evil man. Then, wouldn’t it be strange for Americans to ask the question on the reason why the US troops, our sons and daughters, should stay as scapegoats in S. Korea.

미국인들은 알고 있기를 미국이 김정일을 막을 수 없을 것같다란 것과 그리고 아시아는 그를 사랑할지 또는 미워할지 알지 못한다는 것입니다. 덧붙인다면, 미국은 남한의 적이 되었으며, 더많은 남한국민들이 이미 이 사악한 인간을 흠모하고 있습니다. 그렇다면, 미국인들이 왜 미국군대가, 우리의 아들딸들이 남한에서 희생양처럼 주둔해야하는지 의문을 제기하는 것은 이상한 일이 아닙니다.

Last year, when I received a letter from Depart of State, my impression was the US troops would not be withdrawn, even though Seoul refused to send the Korean troops to Iraq. But now several serious problems in the allied diplomacy and accumulated conflict between the US and S. Korea have caused a partial withdrawal and will eventually lead to a total withdrawal, even the Korean troops are dispatched soon, The time for a total withdrawal could arrive much earlier than S. Korean officials wish or expect.

We have never found any better statement, which describes the current status of S. Korea, than the following one:

Ulysses and Scylla, the monster
