Ladies and Gentlemen:
Rejoice over the news about Roh's impeachment. You have walked all the way and finally you can hear the following news:
"South Korea's National Assembly has voted overwhelmingly to impeach President Roh Moo-hyun by 193-2, amid dramatic scenes as rival politicians physically battled on the floor of parliament."
But do not underestimate Roh and his followers. One more step to finish this unprecedent mission: Within 3 or 6 months, Constitutional Court will decide whether the president should be removed or not.
Nobody would believe that Roh is going to resign before the court will make any decision. What will he and his followers do? What will the liberal Uri Party do from now on? Roh would fight back and could be the greatest come-back kid in Korean political history.
They will do everything they can to break up HanNaRa and Minju Party and the right-wingers, who have two critical weaknesses --Those are Lee Hoi-Chang and Kim DJ. They will use these two figures to divide you.
Let me ask the following questions:
(i) From now on, how are you going to define the political status of Lee Hoi-chang, who still has a lot of supporters? Are you willing to abandon him or accept him as a new leader?
(ii) From now on, how are you going to treat Minju Party whose roots are still directed to DJ, a very unpopular former President? Are you willing to accept Minju Party as the rightist party or not?
Roh, his followers, and the Uri Party will use these two figures, Hoi-Chang and DJ, to break up you very easily and to win the upcoming general elections.
Enjoy this unprecedent moment, but sooner or later you will face the moment you should answer the above questions. But at this moment, it is absolutely important to Korean people to show that there would not have any problem in every area of your society without President Roh.
Again rejoice, but your mission has not been done yet completely, but you just step one foot in the door.
