My name is Daniel. I was an English teacher in Seoul, South Korea, and I am now a writer who has published three books including South Korea: Our Story by Daniel Nardini.

One of the things I learned while living in Seoul was that many individuals who write for the Korean press today once worked as student organizers for the political left and liberal causes. I had seen a lot of this work throughout Seoul during the 2002 anti-American protests---mixing factual information with lies and propaganda to make what is now being called in the U.S. "fake news." So it is no surprise that articles and TV reports in the South Korean news media can be both truths, half-truths, lies and distortion.

Many of my own Korean in-laws have told my wife that they hate impeached Park Geun-hye, but cannot exactly explain why they do not like her and specifically why. It seems that most of the South Korean news media is reporting the news from a certain political perspective (most likely left wing perspective), and that this slants the news heavily against Park Geun-hye.

A lot of the South Korean news media interview legislators, demonstration activists, and members of the Minjoo or Democratic parties. Hardly objective information. But all of this is being used as I said before to build momentum to create a political change whereby the political left can come to power.
